JRMC’S Respiratory Care department specializes in caring for patients with heart and lung disorders. That includes a wide range of patients ranging from infants whose lungs are not fully developed to elderly people with lung disease. The Respiratory team also evaluates and monitors heart and lung function, and provide emergency care to those who have suffered deficiencies in the pulmonary system due to heart attacks or strokes.

Inpatient respiratory services at JRMC include:

  • Small volume nebulizer therapy (updraft)
  • Aerosol therapy (heated and cooled)
  • Meter Dose Inhaler (MDI)
  • Intermittent Positive Ventilation (IPV)
  • Sputum Induction Oxygen Therapy
  • Incentive Spirometry/ Sustained Maximal Inspiration (SMI)
  • Chest physiotherapy/ Postural Drainage
  • Airway management
  • Tracheal Suctioning (nasotracheal or endotracheal)
  • Assisting with the care of a tracheostomy
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Adult, pediatric, infant)
  • Ventilator Management
  • Non Invasive Ventilator Management
  • Arterial Blood Gas analysis
  • Bedside bronchoscopy
  • Bedside pulmonary function studies    

Outpatient respiratory services at JRMC include:

  • Arterial Blood Gas analysis
  • Pulmonary Function Studies
  • Methacholine Challenge (for diagnosis of asthma)
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy (Super Dimension)
