UAMS South Central Family Residency Program

The UAMS Family Medicine Residency Program is located on the JRMC campus.

Jefferson Regional Medical Center serves as the primary training hospital for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences – South Central Family Medicine Residency Program. JRMC is proud to be part of teaching the next generation of health professionals.

The program is designed so that the first-year residents inherit a panel of patients from the graduating class to follow for the three years of residency through patient visits, hospital admissions and extended care facility visits. Faculty supervision is readily available and tailored to the resident’s experience and competency.

UAMS faculty staff physicians and support staff understand the special requirements of residency training and are committed to supporting resident training and to providing excellent patient care. Ancillary staff includes a Pharm. D. and a licensed clinical social worker who work with faculty members to introduce residents to the concepts of comprehensive care.

The program has 28 – 30 residents and each resident has access to direct involvement in a wide variety of challenging cases as well as a high volume of common conditions. The JRMC medical staff provides regular lectures and supervises required rotations as well as personalized elective experiences. Our JRMC physicians welcome family medicine residents as colleagues and are always prepared to consult and teach.
