Psychiatrist, Abeer Washington, M.D., earned her medical degree and completed a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock. In addition, she holds a Master’s degree in Biopharmaceutical Science.
Dr. Washington serves as the clinic Medical Director of South Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare Systems in Pine Bluff. She is a member of the JRMC Medical Staff and serves as the Medical Director for Psychiatry. She also has her own clinic in Little Rock, The Rice Clinic.
She is a recipient of the following awards: Brown Girls Rock Leadership and Community Impact Award, Jewel Thomas Visionary Award and Arkansas Business 40 Under 40. Dr. Washington is actively working to combat the stigma of mental illness and promote treatment through her work with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
When she isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Washington enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, running, and other physical activities. Community service is close to her heart. She volunteers with her local sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and is involved in health and media ministry in her church.
Dr. Washington’s love for her hometown of Pine Bluff is the reason she decided to return home to practice medicine. Her family members share in her desire to serve the community. Her husband, Codney, is the owner of the local skating rink, Skateland. Her mother-in-law, Shirley Washington serves as the current mayor of Pine Bluff.
