Family Medicine physician, James I. Cagle, Jr., M.D., earned his medical degree from the Universidad Tecnologica de Santiago. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University Of Arkansas Area Health Education Center in El Dorado. Dr. Cagle was previously certified by the American Board of Family Practice and at present is certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition, he has been trained and specializes in Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygenation Therapy.
Dr. Cagle is a member of the JRMC Medical Staff and serves as the Medical Director of the JRMC Wound Treatment Center. Under his direction, the center has been awarded the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, a Center of Distinction award and in 2017 the Healogics Presidents Circle Center of Excellence Award. JRMC Wound Treatment Center has achieved this national recognition through two consecutive years of exceptional patient satisfaction scores in addition to maintaining both patient heal rates and median days to heal below the national average.
The JRMC Wound Treatment Center is an important resource for patients in Southeast Arkansas with chronic, non-healing wounds. Dr. Cagle is passionate about offering advanced treatment options to the community for conditions including diabetic ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, pressure ulcers, ischemic ulcers, venous insufficiency, traumatic wounds, surgical wounds, vasculitis, burns and peristomal skin irritations. The Center utilizes the latest clinical tools and traditional clinical practices including bio-engineered skin grafting, compression therapy, prescription growth factors, debridement and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Up to 18 percent of wound care patients may require HBOT treatments provided by Dr. Cagle, who is specialty-trained in hyperbaric medicine along with the highly-trained clinical hyperbaric technicians and staff.
Dr. Cagle and his wife, Joy, have two sons and 5 grandchildren. When he isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Cagle enjoys spending time with his family and their pets, 2 dogs named Liebschen and Schotzie. He also enjoys computer programming and playing tennis.
