Oncologist and Hematologist, Omar T. Atiq, M.D., is board certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Khyber Medical College-University of Peshawar, Pakistan. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Hospitals in Chicago. He completed fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr. Atiq established the Arkansas Cancer Institute in Pine Bluff in 1991 and has been in practice here since. He is a Professor of Medicine and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Director of the Cancer Service Line at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He also serves as the Associate Director at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Atiq is serving as Chair-Elect of the Board of Governors of the American College of Physicians and is past president, speaker of the house and chairman of the board of Arkansas Medical Society (AMS). He has been serving on the Arkansas State Medical Board since 2008.
Dr. Atiq and his family helped establish the Atiq Family/JRMC Educational Fund at the Pine Bluff Community Foundation for the benefit of deserving children in the Pine Bluff School District.
