Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Board of Directors has announced that Brian Thomas has been selected as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.
With 20 years of healthcare management experience, Thomas has served in various capacities at JRMC for 11 years. Following a four-year stint as the Director of Physician Practices, Thomas departed JRMC to serve as Chief Executive Officer for Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas, followed by Chief Operating Officer roles for Tenet Healthcare in Indio, California and Community Health Systems in Huntsville, Alabama. Thomas returned to JRMC in 2010 as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. At the request of the JRMC Board of Directors, Thomas transitioned to Interim President & CEO in March 2016.
JRMC Board of Directors Chairman, Chuck Morgan said, “I, along with the CEO search committee and JHA Board of Directors, have complete confidence in Brian Thomas and his ability to lead this organization to future success.”
The hospital’s CEO search committee was made up of board members and physicians. Robert P. “Bob” Atkinson, former JRMC President and CEO, served as a consultant to the Board of Directors and was instrumental in the transition process. Atkinson served for nearly 17 years as CEO at JRMC before his retirement in 2009. The search committee engaged with Witt/Kieffer, the nation’s largest healthcare executive recruiting firm to find candidates that demonstrated the attributes and characteristics required to fulfill the position.

JRMC serves 216,000 residents of eleven counties is Southeast Arkansas.
