Congratulations to the winners of JRMC’s Positive Mentoring Award for nurses! Shawn Raney, JRMC Emergency Department Registered Nurse, is the first winner, and Shelly Thompson, JRMC Emergency Department Registered Nurse, is the second.
JRMC’s Positive Mentoring Award is based on how many positive mentions a JRMC nurse receives in student evaluation forms. The forms are given to nursing students from JRMC, Seark, UAM and Phillips Community College who come to JRMC for clinical rotations, in which they work side-by-side with JRMC nurses to learn nursing skills firsthand. The evaluation forms assess the student’s experience at JRMC, and the nurse with the most positive mentions wins the Positive Mentoring Award and $250. After the first winner is chosen, another name is randomly drawn from the other nurses who had multiple positive mentions. Every time a nurse’s name is mentioned, he/she gets another chance to win the second prize and also receives $250.
