Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has received the Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for its high-value purchasing practices.
Durral R. Gilbert, president of Premier supply chain services, said, “JRMC is continuously advancing their supply purchasing strategies and collaborating to share best practices that support Premier alliance members. We are thrilled to present them with this honor as they work to provide high-value care in their community.”
JRMC is one of only 14 out of 3,750 Premier members to receive the award this year. Larry Kennedy, JRMC Director of Materials Management, accepted the award on behalf of JRMC at Premier’s 2017 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C. on June 29.
“I am very proud of all those who worked to achieve this award,” said Kennedy. “Although Materials Management drives the major part of the process, the supply chain involves many others. Every employee from the time an item or service is contracted, purchased, received and consumed plays a role in the process. This is a team award – for Materials Management and all of JRMC.”
To be eligible for the award, JRMC submitted four quarters of calendar 2016 data to Supply Focus, which includes the industry’s largest comparative database of operational and supply chain cost information for acute care hospitals. JRMC was chosen as a recipient based on four industry standard case-mix-index-adjusted supply expense ratios and peer grouping to ensure that organizations of all sizes and complexities were considered equally.
The Materials Management Department, and all of JRMC, work hard to achieve and sustain a healthy bottom line in order to ensure that the health needs of Southeast Arkansas are met.
