News

Every year, 40,000 men and women in the United States die from breast cancer. Every year, untold numbers of families are affected by this heartbreaking diagnosis. Jefferson Regional Medical Center supports the Susan G Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure for all those affected—not only to help care for them now, but to help find a cure for the future.

JRMC sponsors a Race for the Cure team each year, and Team JRMC is up to 300 members for this year’s race. Wellness Center Program Coordinator, Brandy Baugh, leads Team JRMC and anyone is invited to join. The race costs $30 per participant and $20 for those under 18. Sign up continues until the day of the race, October 14. To join Team JRMC, visit the Wellness Center or go to komenarkansas.org.

This year, JRMC will also sponsor KATV’s live coverage of Race for the Cure. Channel 7 coverage will feature live interviews, including JRMC OB/GYN, Amy B. Cahill, M.D., FACOG. All day Friday, October 13, JRMC information and testimonials will fill KATV’s home page on their website, KATV.com.

Because of grant money provided by the Arkansas Susan G Komen Foundation, many women receive free breast healthcare services such mammograms, ultrasounds and breast biopsy assistance every year. At JRMC, these services are administered through our Reach Every Woman Program.

Even if you aren’t a runner, you can still join Team JRMC to give a donation to breast cancer. 75% of Susan G Komen Arkansas funds go to assisting breast health right here in Arkansas and 25% of funds go to national breast cancer research. Also, members of Team JRMC receive an awesome, custom T-shirt, a water bottle and the race shirt provided by Race for the Cure.
