Gastroenterologist, Meer Akbar Ali, MD, earned his medical degree at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in Dehradun, India. After completing an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, Dr. Ali completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship and an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Prior to moving his practice to Pine Bluff, Dr. Ali served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and an Associate Program Director at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Dr. Ali began his career at Jefferson Regional in May of 2017 and treated patients as an attending Gastroenterologist for over six years. During that time, he served on the Medical Care Review, Cancer, and Performance Improvement committees. From 2023 to 2026, Dr. Ali worked as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Associate Fellowship Program Director, and member of the Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Dr. Ali is a member of the physician team at Jefferson Regional GI Associates and the Jefferson Regional medical staff. He is board certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Ali has a clinical interest in Neurogastroenterology and motility disorders with clinical niche in swallowing disorders, acid reflux, gastroparesis, and constipation.
